Over the last 25 years, the Westchester Parks Foundation (formerly known as Friends of Westchester County Parks) our members, and our programs have had a profound impact on Westchester County, and its extensive county park system.

You can help secure the future of the Westchester Parks Foundation by considering a legacy gift. You can choose from a variety of options that reflect your values and philanthropic goals, including naming the Westchester Parks Foundation as a beneficiary of your will or arranging a trust.

Another way to make a significant financial contribution to the Westchester Parks Foundation, is through the giving of stocks. You pay no capital gains tax (as long as the stock’s value has grown since you purchased it). Your gift has no impact on your immediate lifestyle. Plus, you can take a tax deduction.

Review your portfolio and select stock that you’ve owned for more than a year and that has appreciated in value. While you can donate stock that you’ve held for less than a year, you will only be able to deduct the amount you originally paid.

You may transfer securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) to the Westchester Parks Foundation. Please notify us of your plans to donate.

You may mail stock certificates to us. Send the unendorsed stock certificate and a signed stock power (available from your broker) in separate envelopes. Please also enclose a “gifting letter” that states:

Your name
The number of shares you are donating
The name of the stock
Your signature
The date of submission

Matching Volunteer Hours
If you volunteer your time to the Westchester Parks Foundation
 and your employer matches volunteer hours, please consider submitting your hours to be matched. Most companies that match hours will contribute between $10-$17 per volunteer hour.
