Westchester Parks Foundation
Emerging Leaders Council

The Emerging Leaders Council aims to help shape the future of the Westchester Parks Foundation by giving individuals the opportunity to build relationships with other individuals in Westchester County while expanding their network, love of parks & recreation and carrying out the mission of the Westchester Parks Foundation and the Board of Trustees. The Council is comprised of a diverse group of individuals representing the varied and vibrant experiences of living and working in Westchester County.

The Emerging Leaders Council seeks to help promote the importance of preservation in the Westchester County Parks system across generations and ensures the priorities of Westchester’s emerging leaders are reflected in the work of the WPF. The Emerging Leaders Council aims to create opportunities for emerging leaders to build relationships, expand professional skills and advance their careers while continuing to strengthen the connection between parks and our communities.

Council Eligibility and Term: The Emerging Leaders Council is comprised of approximately ten community-minded early/mid-career individuals, nominated and selected by WPF Trustees. Council members will serve a two-year term, during while they attend quarterly meetings, and participate in at least 2-3 events outside of those meetings. Emerging leaders will be encouraged to promote their participation on the Council through their professional networks and participate in the following activities:

  • Networking and Social Events – These events will give the council members an opportunity to get together and network with peers in an informal setting.

  • Educational Events – These events will give council members an opportunity to learn from experienced professionals about various topics.

  • Community Service Events – These events will give council members an opportunity to embrace the mission of the WPF by getting involved in one of the many volunteer programs offered by the WPF, including Pitch in for Parks, the Clean River Project and the Green Squad Program.

  • Leadership Initiative Council members will work with WPF Committees to determine an initiative or project. The council’s work will also be highlighted at WPF’s Annual Gala to showcase the initiative and announce newly appointed council members.
