2026 Bronx River Blitz - County Center East Lot

Westchester Parks Foundation is partnering with Grow Torah to clean up the Bronx River Pathway as part of its Bronx River Blitz, which is the largest cleanup of the Bronx River Reservation of the year! This event includes the previously scheduled MLK Day event (rescheduled due to inclement weather).

During the Bronx River Blitz, volunteers will check in, get supplies and instructions from their Volunteer Coordinators, and then stroll the pathway collecting litter at their own pace. At this site, GrowTorah will also facilitate optional learning sessions on the importance of protecting our waterways through relevant Torah texts. All volunteers are welcome to join!

What to know:

  • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Collect litter at your own pace, and return to the check-in table by 11:45 a.m. to weigh your trash!

  • Volunteers will be collecting litter from the land only. Do not enter the river or riverbank under any circumstances. (Want to help in the river? Check out the Clean River Project when it returns next spring!)

  • Never disturb anything that looks like it could be the belongings of an unhoused person (bags of collected bottles/cans, sleeping bags, clothing, tents, bikes)

  • Some parts of the pathway follow the road. Be mindful of all signage and do not walk onto the roadway

  • Be aware of bikes and other park users, especially around sharp turns

  • Bring your own reusable water bottle

  • All tools, gloves, and supplies will be provided

  • This event is rain or shine. Check the forecast and dress for weather. In extreme weather cases, check your email before leaving for the event

Registration for this opportunity ends 24 hours prior to the project start time.
